UTMB Group is the global leader in the organization of trail running events. Based in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in the French Alps, UTMB Group launched the UTMB® World Series in partnership with The IRONMAN Group in 2022. 

The UTMB® World Series became the number one trail running series in the world, bringing together from 2022 about 50 (to grow) leading international events to give all trail runners the chance to experience the UTMB® adventure across the globe.

Expected profile.

To support the development of the UTMB World Series, we are looking for an experienced minded International Business Developer with an international profile and proven experience in International Sport Business Management and Development.

Profile 

👉 Minimum 5 years experience in the sport business and outdoor sport events industry development

👉 A desire and the availability for extensive travel around the world

👉 Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude in building relationships with professionals at all organizational levels

👉 Strong business acumen

👉 Multilingual - perfect English and good French are a must, other additional languages preferred

👉Ability to perform both analytical and strategic-oriented mindsets and activities

👉 Computer skills, including advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint

👉 Budget management

Missions

Main mission will be to increase the number of international events, with a focus on EMEA.

1. Business Development

Business development extends from project identification to internal integration - concept definition, project assessment, business plan creation, negotiation with stakeholders, contract signature, transition with internal departments.

  • Managing mergers and acquisitions and creating new events
  • Establishing joint-ventures or event franchising/licensing agreements
  • Defining strategies and alternative models to penetrate new markets
  • Identifying or coordinating potential business providers and local partners
  • Conducting high level discussion, pitching and negotiations with host cities or governments
  • Providing benchmarks, analysis, presentations and business intelligence to support the UTMB World Series short, middle and long-term development strategy
  • Coordinating multiple (internal and external) stakeholders in a challenging and highly multicultural environment (with projects across all continents)

2. Management of UTMB licensed event

The success of the UTMB World Series also relies on the excellent coordination of the 50+ events of the Series. Once an event franchising/licensing contract is signed, the next challenge is to facilitate the integration of this event into the UTMB World Series. To that intent, your responsibilities will also include : 

  • Managing day to day relations with some newly signed licensed/franchised events, or host governments
  • Animating a network of actors in the countries in your scope
  • Facilitating the coordination between these events, governments and UTMB Group’s global teams (operations, commercial, communication…) 
  • Helping secure a long-lasting and trusting relationship, and achieve a sustainable business model for all actors
  • Providing precise and up-to-date strategic insights on the countries under your scope

Work location :

👉 Annecy or Chamonix Mont-Blanc

👉 Partial remote work possible

👉 Frequent international travel to oversee global business activities

👉 Regular meetings in France (Chamonix) to coordinate with the UTMB® Group team
